Chaddesden Fire Station

The project entailed the provision of a new fire station on an existing site for Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service as part of an ongoing programme to rebuild many of their ageing buildings. The buildings include offices, staff & community training rooms, a house and tower for exercise training and an appliance garage.

M&E Services Installation

The mechanical services for the building comprise ventilation, gas fired heating, domestic water & sanitary ware, above ground drainage and provision of specialist supplies to fire hydrants.

The electrical services comprise mains distribution, lighting and small power, fire alarms, PA system, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and data cabling.

A number of specific specialist services are provided specific to this type of building, including a fire call out warning system, smoke generation and extract services for staff training, pumped fire hydrants

Full use of renewable energy technology has been made, including a wind turbine, photo-voltaic cells and solar thermal units. Further energy efficiency measures include the use of daylight linking & PIR lighting controls. These measures combine to provide a much lower energy demand than would traditionally be expected for this type of building.
