Lombard Building

The building was commissioned to increase Rolls-Royce Design & Development capabilities for the Trent family of engines. The Trent engines are a derivative of the RB211 engine which powered the Boeing 747. The Trent family of engines are the most developed jet engines for fuel efficiency and environmental issues.
The aircraft which are powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent engines are: -
- Trent 500: Airbus A340
- Trent 700: Airbus A330
- Trent 800: Boeing 777
- Trent 900: Airbus A380
- Trent 1000: Boeing 787 Dreamliner
The current development programme is the Trent XWB for the Airbus A350 XWB 6th generation of aircraft.
The contract was commissioned on a Design & Build basis to provide a four storey building with 64,000 square feet of office accommodation plus ancillary and atrium areas.
The electrical works included HV to 2 x 1000kVA transformers, LV Switchboard and Distribution, Lighting Installation including central battery emergency lighting and automatic 24 hour self-test facility. Small power installation to designers desking arrangements by underfloor bus-bar and floor boxes. The systems installed also included fire alarms, security, CCTV, PA with external parking and floodlighting provisions.
