Centrica Rough Storage 47/3B

In August 2007 EI.WHS commenced work on the Centrica Rough 47/3 Bravo and its sister Installation 47/ 3A Alpha, which is an ongoing contract initially for 3-5 years. E.I.WHS took over the day to day Electrical & Instrument project works. This contract is managed by Andy Richardson (Oil & Gas Contracts Manager) from the Thornaby office.

Centrica Rough consists of a core crew of 2 Supervisors, 2 Foreman and 10 Electrical Technicians and is expected to rise to about 30-40 during 2009. The Rough is a depleted gas field, 20 miles off the Yorkshire Coast that is converted into an Offshore Gas Storage Facility in 1983/4. It is the largest UK Gas Storage Facility and holds approximately 80% of the UK storage and can supply approximately 10% of the UK Peak demand.

The Rough Field has been given an extended life cycle up to 2029. Project modifications and upgrades are ongoing. Particular focus at this present time is the installation of new BP Equipment Room and change out of the Fire & Gas systems to the 3x’s Complex Modules on Bravo 47/3B, which is estimated completion within 2 years from start date. Also carrying from this is relocation and change out of ESD / DCS systems on BP Module and complete change out of PA systems on Bravo Platform.
