The Mersey Queensway Tunnel is a vital link in the Mersey Transport system network linking the centre of Liverpool to Birkenhead.
Mersey Travel opted to construct within the existing structure, 7 Emergency Escape Refuges at strategic positions along the length of the tunnel, offering a safe route of escape and refuge in the event of a major incident PDS through AMCO donelon awarded the contract to EI.WHS for the total management, design procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of all electrical and mechanical services for the Tunnel Refuge Services.
