Seadragon

Sea Dragon Offshore is currently building the first of a number of planned 6th Generation (Deep Water / Harsh Environment semi-submersible rigs). EIWHS Ltd has received the order for the E&I work on Seadragon 1. The onsite work is scheduled to begin in January 2009 with a completion date of January 2010.

SeaDragon’s 6th generation semi-submersibles drilling rig hulls are based upon the proven Moss Maritime CS50 MkII design. The hull is built with steel capable of operating in temperatures of up to -30oC. This ultra deep water, harsh environment vessel is rated for use in water depths of up to 10,000ft and capable of drilling to a depth of 30000ft. The vessel has accommodation for up to 192 personnel with large common room areas. The vessels have full DP3.

The vessel is environmentally friendly with a zero discharge rate and low emissions with the emphasis on the BOP using the Fluid Recovery Reservoir System (FRS) designed for safe area installation is included to comply with Norwegian Barents Sea zero discharge recommendations.

The project has a combined value of circa US$1.8 billion.
